MAS
In 2021 we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the MAS. To celebrate this, the MAS has built an exhibition around city stories, not only from Antwerp, but also from the rest of the world. This temporary exhibition will also last longer than usual, namely 2 years! Despite the set-up, the exhibition cannot be visited with a guide …
Kameolonie
You are guided with a audioguide by Kameolonie, the voice of Tinne Embrechts. She tells the stories rewritten by Dimitri Leue and sings a song at every stop. Each of the 12 stories has its own scenography with objects from the rich collection of the MAS.
Brabo and Lange Wapper
The best-known stories in the exhibition are those of Brabo and Lange Wapper. Brabo is very prominent in the exhibition with his head and long beard. The Scheldt meanders on the ground in front of him. Lange Wapper is afraid of the statue of Mary hanging in a room and seems to get smaller as you get closer. In addition, there are also the stories of Malka Zimetbaum, the Swan Knight and the lovers of the cathedral. In 2021 you should definitely listen to the story of the Swan Knight and then visit the ‘Heroes in Armor’ exhibition in the Heritage Library where this knight is also mentioned.
Stories from around the world
In addition to the Antwerp stories, many worldly stories are also represented, such as the turtle that wants to fly. The stories that were not included in the exhibition can be discovered in the big room at the end. Finally, in the last room you can hear 5 stories, written by primary school children around a MAS object.
